Issue 1_27
Deadline for contributions: Dec 31, 2026
For the 1/27 issue of the International Journal of Music Mediation, we have decided to refrain from defining a specific thematic focus and instead open the issue to the full diversity of current research and practice in the field of music mediation.
We welcome contributions that engage with music mediation from a wide range of disciplinary, methodological, artistic, educational, social and cultural perspectives. We particularly look forward to submissions presenting innovative approaches, thought-provoking arguments, critical reflections, new empirical findings, artistic and practice-based research, as well as interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary perspectives.
Possible topics may include, but are not limited to:
- theoretical and conceptual developments in music mediation
- participatory and socially engaged artistic practices
- audience and community engagement
- music mediation in formal and non-formal educational contexts
- artistic citizenship and cultural participation
- diversity, inclusion and accessibility
- digitality and AI in music mediation
- artistic research and practice-based methodologies
- new concert and performance formats
- institutional transformation and cultural policy
- international and transcultural perspectives
The open format of this issue aims to provide space for emerging discourses, experimental approaches and critical debates that contribute to the ongoing development of the field. In this spirit, we particularly encourage submissions from emerging researchers and early-career scholars whose work contributes new perspectives to the discourse on music mediation.
We warmly invite researchers and practitioners to submit their work and look forward to receiving your contributions.
